Cookie

snow. warm fires and cold chickens, TURKEY, sledding and meeting TWIG ...and dancing! part 1

Nothing like 5 days off in a row to make you WANT TO QUIT your JOB!..?!?...hehe.

Well, let's take it from the top...we were scheduled to drive to Denver Tuesday night after work, but on Monday we got hit with a CRAZY snowstorm that closed roads...so we (ON A WIMB...mind you) bought plane tickets to Denver...oh yes we did. But on Tuesday..the snow was still falling and Jordy was stuck in Jackson due to CLOSED roads...so he drove around the mountain...and 3.5 hours later...made it home...we made an executive decision to NOT go to Denver because it just wasn't safe....and everyone was bummed. We missed out on some family time...but hope to make a plan for the NOT.TOO.DISTANT.FUTURE. We stuck around here..and got a few last minute invites to friends' houses...and we took the first invite to the Stitts...and we had a GREAT time...

He did some eating..but not with the group...he ate alone..then tried to nap...he was having a time...and was quite the little whipper snapper to say the least.

I did my share of eating..it was amazing food. So...so...so good. I was only bummed it wasn't my house so that I could KEEP all the leftovers.

Speaking of Ever....HERE he is....isn't he adorable...this is Sara and Gabe...wonderful people..and will be wonderful parents...

and wants his momma all the time...he says momma a lot now...especially if Jordy puts him to bed...he says..."Momma....Mommmmmmmm....maaaaa"...so cute...HE also says:

cookie, BITE, dog, kitty, dance, dada, Jensey (gigi), papa, non for nonna, no, yes, snow, car, ahah for alison, g for gloria, eat, up, down, sit, gee-yah (please), mo for more....A LOT of things...

Here we are at Targhee on Friday...we went to get our ski passes...and Whitty got one too. So cute huh? No, mom we aren't gonna let him ski...but thought it would be a great memory.

then we did some sledding up at the 'ghee and just out the daycare for the future SKI days

back at the homefront...daddy finally blew the driveway...it was a lot of snow to blow around...

I don't think whitty loves his boots...or maybe it's the snow...I can't tell yet.

BIG NEWS in the GRIFFIN HOUSE....

WHITYN McKAY's elf "Twig" showed up Friday night...in the bathtub...can you believe it?

We explained to Whityn about his Elf on the shelf that he got last year from Nannie and Nonna.

He was shocked...interested...and curious...

then he was ready for a bath...

and some post bath dancing....this toddler loves to DANCE....

so we danced the night away in our diapers....well, not us...you know what I mean.

11:53PM

about 4 months ago I booked our weekend at Chico Hot Springs. We usually go every November for Jordy's b-day. We have always had great weather for the most part....it takes around 4.5 hours to get there....and it took us over 6 hours... because of this.....

the above picture was taken in WEST Yellowstone...we were hungry..and debating to sit/eat/relax....or order/beer for passengers/and take on the road...we chose option:B

Whityn worked the restaurant the whole time...doing laps around each table....he's getting fast. I am getting scared.

back in the car...Whityn McKay's latest obsession..he loves his nose...and yours too. He just recently discovered those 2 holes that are PERFECT finger size....dangit!

during a snowstorm...never take your hands off the wheel....Here is Todd feeding Jordy some Chocolate cake...YUM.

ON our trip...I finally introduced the DVD player to Whityn...we have had it for awhile..found it in New York this summer....anyhow, let's just say it was a hit...the kids watched BEE movie..and Whitty fell asleep...but there was a bit of hand-holding on this super-VISED date.

WE arrived at Chico...slightly before midnight....and we all went NIGHT, NIGHT!

The next morning...I fought WHityn to get dressed for the pool...

IT WAS FREEZING out....like 5 degrees...

and snowy.

but IN we went...sorry no pictures...no need for swimsuit pics in the FALL....eeeeesh.

TRIP 2 TO THE hot pool....we changed suits...

then we watched some football and played SHUFFLE board...

then we ordered in for WHitty...CAUSE we had a hot date planned...yep that's right...at CHICO..they have in-house sitters and you can walk out of your room and into the ressie...then off to the BAR for LIVE music every night....SO fun!!!!

Dinner was amazing...I had a Gorgonzola filet mignon...jordy had the seared tuna..and the stitt's split the beef wellington for TWO...I can't tell you how amazing this restaurant is...YOU HAVE to go....google map it from your door....YOU MUST GO SOON>

I went to check on the kids...here is what I found...JEnsey asleep on the bed...bum in air...

whitty asleep in the P-IN-P...bum in air.. it was a GREAT night...we finished dinner and did an hour on the dance floor...and WHA-La...off to bed we went..

Sunday...we did the breakfast buffet...then outside for pictures....so snowy...so COLD...7 degrees...

Whityn wasn't ready to walk alone out there...he wanted up...and snuggles...

BYE chico...see you in the Spring with my bookclub girls...

Everyone loves a roadtrip.....especially the gas station stock UPS.....YUM YUM.

another almost 7 hour leg home...wow. thank god for the dvd player.

I love a 3-day weekend.

we had the day off on friday...and jordy and I had planned a day in Idaho Falls...sounds romantic doesn't it? well, it wasn't, it was business!!! We had a FEW errands to run and things to do...nothing Christmas "like" yet...I am not that much of a pre-crastinator!!! We did however buy some pretty useless things....here is one...

if you have a kitten and you haven't heard of kitty city...WHAT A BUMMER. It is so cool and you cat lovers will just love it! After a busy day on Friday...we tried to RELAX on Saturday...I was busy baking...and recruited help from the TV room...this is what I got.

don't let him fool you though...he secretly loves it.

I made this POUNDCAKE with my dear friend AFTON in mind...she loves it. My mom made it for her once...don't remember why....but she always talks about it...here is the RECIPE from my GRANDMA's DOWN-HOME cookbook....it's so simple....and so good.

I also finally hung THIS picture....Jordy painted it when he was a teenager and it reminds me of TIMBER island in Grand Teton National Park. I love it. Our friend Reid framed it a while back...and it's been hiding in the TV room..but now it hangs in our little breakfast nook for all to enjoy.

oh, back to baking...here is some of the finished products...home-made biscuits and cream cheese poundcake...yum. it was midnight here on saturday night.

back to hanging...i picked up some frames on clearance at PIER 1 imports....I love my new chicken frame...I am a sucker for ANYTHING chicken...just an FYI. I couldn't find the best spot for it...but it hangs going up our staircase....and I get to look at it all the time... i love it.

I also hung all these little pictures too. CUTE? I got that lamp for 8 bucks at Pier 1...it's so cute...this is Whitty's little table...

speaking of Whitty...where's he been? asleep.

Do you love this outfit? i do. a lady from my town makes/sells them on EBAY...not sure of the name...but I LOVE IT so much..

Whit's new favorite place to sit...ON THE COUNTER. He is saying so much. It's crazy. He signs a lot too. This weekend he signed MORE.COOKIES.PLEASE. perfect.

EVER done a turkey in a bag? My "amazing cooking friend"....aka AFTON taught me about the bag a number of years ago...and I tried it out again this year for friends....so.flippin.good. this turkey was the best I've had in F.O.R.E.V.E.R.

everyone was impressed. we had a few pals over on Sunday for a PRACTICE turkey lunch...so good. mom, I even made watergate salad...and there is a ton leftover cause NO.ONE likes it...so I am ending up eating it all by myself. THAT's okay.

oh. while that turkey was busy cooking...whitty and I took in some fresh air....I gave him his first EVER sled ride...down the driveway and down the road...he had a grin from EAR to EAR. He loved it.
