The Plane Ride

I am writing about the plane ride first because I don't want it to be any part of my SPRING break story but I do want Whit to know about it later. Here it goes:

The Plane ride
It started on a gray Saturday in Jackson Hole around 12:45...we were so happy to score a direct flight with DELTA to Atlanta, Georgia. We were equally as happy when we found out that the STITTs were not only on our plane ride...but they were in the same aisle as us....Coincidence or sign from above. Who knows?
WE got another HAPPY surprise when a person in our same aisle decided to move (probably saw the baby) to another row...fine with us...cause now we had 3 seats for our 2 adults and one toddler...yeah for us!

The ride was smooth sailing for 2 hours and 40 minutes..then the pilot came on to tell us we were low on fuel and need to touch down in B'ham to fuel up because we might be in a holding pattern in Atlanta (due to thunder/lightening storms with tornado sightings...)...so the TOUCH-down for fuel ended up being a 3 hour stop....NEVER stepping foot off the plane.

remaining calm and happy...we pushed forward with smiles....

we even busted out Whityn's DVD player...thank god for a little THOMAS, Chicka Boom Boom, and BAby einstein...then back up in the air we went....and what seemed like should be a 40 minute flight turned into a FOREVER NIGHTMARE...

Whit pressed on entertaining himself and shortly feel asleep....and he was out...thank god..because the plane for a second felt like we were prepping for landing and I even looked out the WINDOW..which I don't often due lately...but did and saw the craziest lightening show ever....then quickly closed the shutter.....then the plane dropped...rocked...dropped again to the left...dropped to the right...shook...fell again and again....until everyone in flight was screaming...crying...even praying out-loud...little kids were asking there daddies if they were going to be okay...
meanwhile...whit was still asleep.
I was clenching jordy's hand...crying...while listening to him tell me that we were okay..and it wasn't our time to go. We weren't going to die on a plane ride. Then the plane seemed as if it were about to land....and SUDDENLY shot into the sky again...shaking...dropping...swooping...shaking more...while everyone is still screaming...
and this happened two more times...
then finally the pilot came on,
"folks, I am sorry about that...I have tried to land at all 3 runways, but we aren't getting down yet to the weather...i know it's stressful...we are going to circle around and try again"
Me: WHAT? I am thinking...crying more...having the WORST panic attack of my life at this point...body soaking wet...pounding heart...sweaty palms...thinking I am about to die...
AND THEN...
We touch the ground.
Got the HELL of the plane...
WALKED slowly to a service desk for assistance because all flights were STOPPED now...and we were officially stuck...which was fine by me...as I needed to be medicated and put down at this point...all the while my precious boy was still asleep...not a care in the world.
Got to the DELTA desk...people are FREAKING out...screaming at them...we get our voucher..I chug 2 beers...pass one to ANNE...
we hop a VAN (with sketchy driver James) to the Econo lodge in the POURING rain....todd runs across the street get me some milk for whit...it expires today...he chugs it...he falls back asleep...we order pizza....all of us...it's 2AM...we wake at 5AM to do it all again.
Whitty snoozing in the ECONO lodge...
this kid is a trooper.
so glad to be on the ground....
note: BACK east trip planned for JUNE...we're driving!
